Kybella

Kybella is a nonsurgical injection treatment used to dissolve excess fat under the chin. It uses deoxycholic acid to target the fat cells under the chin with no incisions.

It is the first and only non-surgical FDA-approved procedure for contouring and improving the appearance and profile of moderate to severe submental fullness, commonly known as a double chin.

Kybella injections help reveal a smoother jawline without the necessary recovery time of more expensive and invasive surgical treatments, like liposuction.

The amount of treatments you will need are entirely dependent on your anatomy and desired results. Typically 2-5 treatments are needed and are spaced out between 6 weeks.

The amazing thing about Kybella is that it is the only FDA-approved treatment that PERMANENTLY dissolves fat cells, which means that these fat cells do not come back!

Each client will have their own pain threshold, however Kybella is often described as a mild burning sensation. This burning sensation subsides within minutes after injection. An ice pack is applied to further decrease the sensation.

The burning sensation is desired because it lets us know that the Kybella is working. This sensation is the Deoxycolic Acid dissolving the fat cells and the sensation is short-lived. After the sensation subsides the area may feel sore and tender. An over the counter pain reliever may be used.

You can typically go about your day right after Kybella injections. Swelling does occur after Kybella and is completely normal. The initial swelling typically lasts for 48 hours and minor, residual swelling may last up to 2 weeks.

The swelling is your body’s attempt to flush out the dissolved fat cells and is a completely normal response to Kybella.

After the swelling subsides it takes approximately 4 weeks for you to see your results. Multiple treatments are required for optimal results.

Exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours after Kybella treatments to reduce the amount of blood flow to the injected area as this may increase swelling and delay healing.
